Community Programs
At UMOJA OF AFRICA, our community programs bring people together, strengthen families, preserve African cultures, and help individuals build successful lives in the United States. Through education, mentorship, recreation, leadership development, and community events, we create opportunities for people of all ages to connect, learn, and grow.
Every program reflects our commitment to unity, empowerment, education, cultural pride, and community service. By bringing together women, youth, young adults, families, volunteers, and community partners, UMOJA OF AFRICA is helping build a stronger and more connected community.
Women’s Program
Our Women’s Program supports African immigrant and refugee women by creating a welcoming environment where they can connect, share experiences, and develop valuable skills. The program promotes personal growth, leadership, financial independence, health awareness, and stronger family relationships.
Through workshops, mentorship, cultural activities, and community support, women are encouraged to overcome challenges, pursue their goals, and become confident leaders within their families and communities.
Youth Program
Our Youth Program helps children and teenagers develop the knowledge, confidence, and skills they need to succeed. We provide educational support, mentorship, cultural learning, leadership development, and guidance about life in the United States.
The program also helps young people understand their responsibilities, make positive decisions, appreciate their cultural heritage, and build meaningful relationships with their families and communities.
Young Adult Program
Our Young Adult Program prepares young adults for independence, leadership, and future success. It provides opportunities for career development, networking, mentorship, civic engagement, and personal growth.
Participants receive encouragement and practical guidance as they pursue education, employment, entrepreneurship, and community leadership. The program also creates a space where young adults can connect with one another, exchange ideas, and contribute to positive change.
Sports & Recreation
Our Sports and Recreation Program promotes health, teamwork, discipline, and community connection. Through soccer, basketball, fitness activities, tournaments, and other recreational opportunities, participants can remain active while building friendships and strengthening community relationships.
These activities bring together people from different backgrounds and generations in a positive and inclusive environment.
Events & Activities
UMOJA OF AFRICA organizes cultural celebrations, educational workshops, community meetings, family gatherings, youth activities, and special events throughout the year.
Our events celebrate African heritage, encourage cultural exchange, recognize community achievements, and connect individuals and families with helpful information and resources. They also provide opportunities for members, partners, and supporters to work together in service to the community.
