Planning such an important moment came with many responsibilities and financial challenges, but UMOJA stood beside me with encouragement, generosity, and a meaningful contribution that helped make our celebration successful. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to UMOJA OF AFRICA FOUNDATION for the tremendous support they gave me and my family during one of the most difficult moments of my life—the loss of my beloved wife. From the time we received the painful news through the entire funeral and burial process, UMOJA members stood faithfully beside us. They offered financial assistance, encouragement, prayers, their time, and their presence when we needed it most. They helped us through funeral arrangements and made sure that we did not face this difficult journey alone. Their compassion brought comfort and strength to our family during a time of deep sorrow. I am deeply grateful to UMOJA OF AFRICA FOUNDATION for standing beside me during one of the most painful moments of my life. On August 16, 2025, I lost my beloved mother, Shaule Kasigwa, while she was traveling in Africa. Losing the only mother who raised me, cared for me, and helped shape the person I am today left me feeling heartbroken and very lonely, especially because she passed away far from me. During this difficult time, UMOJA OF AFRICA did not allow me to go through my grief alone. Members of the organization came together with me here in the United States, mourned with my family, offered encouragement, prayers, emotional support, and stood beside us throughout the difficult period. Their presence reminded me that community means becoming a family to one another when life becomes painful. I will always appreciate the compassion, unity, love, and support UMOJA OF AFRICA showed me while I was grieving the loss of my mother. Their kindness gave me strength and comfort when I needed it most.

I'm deeply grateful to UMOJA OF AFRICA FOUNDATION for the love and support shown to me and my family after the painful loss of my beloved daughter, Nancy Ibobo, who passed away on November 7, 2024. Losing a child brings sorrow that words cannot fully describe, but during this difficult season, UMOJA OF AFRICA stood beside us with compassion, prayers, encouragement, presence, and support. As a Pastor, I preach about love, kindness, unity, and caring for one another. In my grief, I experienced those same values through this organization. My heart carries lasting appreciation for UMOJA OF AFRICA FOUNDATION because of the remarkable care extended to my household following the passing of my dear son, GULAIN. That season placed an enormous weight upon us, yet the fellowship we received from UMOJA became a source of courage and reassurance. As a servant of God, I teach that faith must be revealed through mercy, generosity, and service toward others. UMOJA gave our community a powerful example of those principles through genuine action. There are no words that can fully describe the pain a mother feels after losing her son. During that heartbreaking time, I felt as though a part of my life had been taken away, and every day became difficult to face. UMOJA OF AFRICA FOUNDATION reached out to me when I needed people around me the most. Their support, comforting presence, and willingness to stand with my family gave me strength during days filled with sadness. What touched me deeply was knowing that people cared enough to share my burden and remind me that I was not grieving by myself. When I lost my beloved brother, Haruna, my family entered a season of sorrow that was difficult to describe. A brother holds a special place in your life someone connected to your childhood, your memories, and the story of your family. His passing created an emptiness that could not easily be filled. During those painful days, UMOJA OF AFRICA FOUNDATION became part of the support system that helped me keep going. Their concern was genuine, their presence was comforting, and their assistance reminded me that grief does not have to be carried alone. I was especially touched by the way the community came around me with respect and understanding. I want to express my sincere appreciation to UMOJA OF AFRICA for remembering my family during our time of loss. Christmas Day, December 25, 2025, will forever carry a different meaning for me. While families everywhere were celebrating, exchanging gifts, and enjoying time together, my family was facing the heartbreaking loss of my beloved daughter, Nicole. As her father, the pain of losing a daughter on a day meant for joy is something words can hardly explain. In that darkness, UMOJA OF AFRICA FOUNDATION made an extraordinary choice. The organization had been preparing for UMOJA DAY, but the event was canceled so the community could stand with our grieving family. Members set aside their own holiday celebrations, came to mourn with us, offered comfort, assistance, and remained present throughout our difficult journey. I will never forget that sacrifice. UMOJA showed me that true community is revealed when people leave celebration behind to carry the sorrow of another family. From my heart, I thank everyone who stood with us and honored Nicole’s memory.

On May 26, 2024, I experienced the painful departure of my beloved mother, Jose Christine. As an Apostle, I have spent many years encouraging others to remain strong in faith, but when grief entered my own home, I also needed people who could stand beside me. UMOJA OF AFRICA FOUNDATION became one of those sources of strength. Their compassion, presence, encouragement, and practical support spoke louder than many words. They reminded me that ministry is not only preached from a pulpit; it is also demonstrated by carrying the burdens of those who are hurting. I give thanks to God for an organization that understands the value of fellowship, dignity, and service during times of loss. May the Lord continue to enlarge the work of UMOJA OF AFRICA FOUNDATION and reward every heart that chooses to comfort families in their most difficult seasons.

On June 26, 2025, my life changed forever when I lost my beloved wife, Thity Sabu. As her husband, I felt the painful absence of the person who had shared my home, my plans, my responsibilities, and so many precious moments with me. In the middle of that loss, UMOJA OF AFRICA FOUNDATION came close to my family with genuine care and meaningful support. They did not treat our grief as something distant; they stood with us, encouraged us, and helped us through a season when even simple decisions felt difficult. Their presence brought a sense of strength and togetherness when our family needed it most. I am deeply thankful to everyone within UMOJA who gave their time, compassion, and assistance. What they did for us will always remain part of my memory of Thity. Their actions showed that when tragedy enters a home, a caring community can help that family continue forward with dignity and hope.

My wedding on August 15, 2025 became even more meaningful because of the kindness and encouragement I received from UMOJA OF AFRICA FOUNDATION. Preparing for marriage brought excitement, responsibility, and many expenses, but I felt strengthened knowing that my community was willing to stand with me. UMOJA’s contribution was not only financial support; it was a beautiful sign that I was surrounded by people who wanted to see my new chapter begin with joy and dignity. Their generosity helped reduce the pressure of wedding preparation and allowed me to focus more on the happiness of the occasion. I remain truly thankful to every person who contributed, encouraged me, and celebrated this important milestone with my family. UMOJA OF AFRICA showed me that community support can make a special day even more memorable, and I will always carry that appreciation with me.

The day I lost my son, Etienne Kwembe, on May 6, 2026, became one of the heaviest days of my life. A father never expects to say goodbye to his own child, and the grief that followed was deeper than I can fully explain. In that painful season, UMOJA OF AFRICA FOUNDATION came beside me and my family with care, respect, and practical support. Their presence reminded me that even when sorrow leaves a home feeling empty, a strong community can help carry part of the burden. I am thankful for every person who called, visited, prayed, contributed, and stood with us as we honored Etienne’s memory. Their support gave me courage during days when my heart felt weak. I will always remember that UMOJA OF AFRICA did not simply offer words; they showed compassion through action.
